Isaac Heating and Air Conditioning was founded by George T. Isaac in February 1945. During the following 15 years, the huge post World War II housing boom provided George with plenty of work. Because of his diligence and attention to detail, it only took a few years for the company to earn its longstanding reputation as the industry hallmark. As the business further matured, the customers who purchased these new homes relied on the Isaac Company for routine maintenance and emergency service in addition to other HVAC related accessories.
George T. Isaac Heating & Sheet Metal, as it was originally called, was first located in a garage next to George and Phyllis Isaac’s small, 1 ½ story house on Idyllwood Lane in Irondequoit, NY. With eight children to feed and take care of and a growing business to run, George and Phyllis were very busy people.
After a couple of years in the family garage, the shop was moved to a barn on Cooper Road where the business continued to flourish. By 1949, the company had grown significantly in both replacement and service work. As a result, Isaac Heating outgrew the barn on Cooper Road and George started looking for a place to better suit the needs of the growing company.
George successfully located both a house for the family and a barn to serve as a “shop†on Hudson Avenue in Irondequoit and the company was moved to the bigger and better location.
In 1955, George’s second oldest son, Jim, joined the business as a full-time employee working in the field installing heating equipment. In 1962, George’s youngest son, Bill, also joined the company as a full-time employee. Today, Jim and Bill continue to own and operate Isaac as the leading heating and air conditioning contractor in the Rochester area.
The early 1960’s brought about the advent of residential central air conditioning to the Upstate NY area. This wonderful innovation expanded the market, and through the years, the air conditioning market proved to be larger than the heating market for growth potential. It was at this time that the company’s name was changed from George T. Isaac Heating & Sheet Metal to Isaac Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. when it was incorporated in 1965.
In 1967, the founder of the Isaac Heating Company, George Isaac, died suddenly at age 61. Carrying on in their father’s footsteps, Jim and Bill continued to grow the company through the 60’s and 70’s and by 1979, a new location was again needed to house the growing operation.
180 Charlotte Street was located and purchased and Isaac heating once again moved shop in July of 1979. This current location has undergone many stages of renovation and improvement over the years to meet the growing needs of the company. In fact, the learning center where Isaac University is located and the West building expansion were only recently completed.
Today the company continues to honor George’s mission: to provide quality, trusted installation and service to residential, commercial and industrial customers at fair prices…and to respond to questions and problems immediately.
Our legacy grows even today as Isaac’s leadership position gains strength every year. Recent market research shows that Isaac is tops in the area when it comes to consumer education, staff expertise, service agreements, comprehensive estimates, number of referrals, and years in business. In 1988, Isaac was recognized as one of Rochester’s Top 100 Companies and in 1995, Jim Isaac received the prestigious Rochester Small Business Person of the Year award. And, just recently, Isaac was chosen Residential Contractor of the Year by Contracting Business Magazine for the year 2002 from among over 34,000 HVAC contracting firms nationwide.
What’s all of this mean to you? Peace of mind and comfort in your home. Day in and day out. That’s been the Isaac way for 60 years and it will be the Isaac way for as long as we do business.
“When you need us, we’ll be there†is not just a slogan, it's our way of life.
